Come as you are

Small church. Open doors.

Join us this Sunday on Third Street. We sing the old hymns and a few new ones, we open the Bible together, and the coffee is on early.

Jeans are fine. Kids are welcome in the service, and there's a class for them too.

Our story

Same pews, new faces, since 1911

Third Street Church started with eleven families and a borrowed piano. The building has been added onto three times since, but the pews are the originals, and so is the bell.

Today we're about ninety people on a good Sunday: ranchers, teachers, retired folks and a lot of kids. Some of us have been here for sixty years. Some of us showed up last month. Both are just right.

  • WorshipOld hymns, a few new songs and the Bible read out loud.
  • FamilyGrandparents, toddlers and everyone in between, in the same room.
  • ServiceMeals, firewood and rides to Boise when somebody needs one.

Your first Sunday

What should I wear?

Whatever you'd wear to the grocery store. You'll see boots, jeans and a few Sunday dresses.

Where do I park?

On Third Street or in the gravel lot behind the hall. Save the spots by the door for folks with walkers.

What about my kids?

Kids are welcome in the service. At 10:30, ages 4 to 10 can head downstairs for kids church after the first song.

How long is the service?

About an hour and ten minutes. We sing, pray, read Scripture and hear a sermon of around half an hour.

Will I have to stand up or say anything?

No. Nobody will single you out. Somebody will probably say hello and offer you coffee, though.

Tell us you're coming
We moved to Council not knowing a soul. By the second Wednesday supper, somebody knew our kids' names and there was a casserole on our porch.
