Four little cabins in the big timber

Larch Hollow sits on forty acres at the top of a dirt road, about ten minutes past town. My grandfather cut the logs for the Bunkhouse in 1962. We built the other three by hand, one a summer, starting in 2016.

Every cabin has a wood stove, a full kitchen or a good kitchenette, and a porch facing the mountains. Our place is down the hill if you need anything, and we'll leave you alone if you don't.

Pine Valley and the canyon country

Halfway is a one-blinker town with a good cafe, a hardware store and a summer rodeo. From here the Wallowas rise up behind you and the Snake River drops into Hells Canyon to the east.

What guests tell us

★★★★★

"We came for two nights and stayed four. The kids learned to build a fire, we saw more stars than we knew were up there, and nobody looked at a phone all weekend."

Questions before you come up

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is after 3 and check-out is by 11. If nobody's coming in behind you, we're happy to let you sleep in.

Can we bring the dog?

Dogs are welcome in the Creek Cabin and the Bunkhouse for $20 a stay. Please keep them leashed near the horses next door.

Is the road plowed in winter?

Yes. The county plows to our gate and we plow the rest. From December to March we'd still bring chains, just in case.

Is there cell service?

One bar if you stand by the woodshed. Each cabin has slow wifi for checking in at home, and that's about it.

Can we have a campfire?

Every cabin has a fire pit and a stack of split larch. During fire season we'll let you know if there's a burn ban.

Come up for a few nights

Fall weekends go first, then the week after Christmas. Weeknights in winter are the quietest, and the stove is just as warm.
