Hand-cut steaks, a long wood bar and a relish tray on every table
The Basin has been feeding Harney County since 1961, when Walt and June Pruitt bought the old highway cafe and put in a grill. The booths are the same red leather. The prime rib recipe hasn't changed either.
We cut every steak in our own kitchen, grill it over oak and let it rest before it goes out. Come early, have a drink at the bar and stay late.

Our beef
Raised twenty miles out, not two thousand
Our beef comes from two family ranches in the Harney Basin, both a short drive from our back door. We buy whole sides, age them 28 days and cut them ourselves on Tuesday mornings.

"We drove ninety minutes for prime rib on my dad's birthday and it was worth every mile. The waitress knew half the room by name and treated us like we were the other half."
