Ranch families
Forty outfits from Cottonwood to Kooskia
Ray and Lorna Bower started buying calves from their neighbors in 1984. Now about forty ranch families sell to them, and the beef stays in Idaho County.
We buy calves every Thursday at a posted price, pay the day they ship and tell you how they finished. Plenty of the families selling to us now are the grandkids of the ones who sold to Ray.

Our feed yard
Finished on grain and hay grown within 30 miles
Calves come off the prairie in October and spend about 120 days in our yard east of town on barley and alfalfa from our neighbors' fields. We buy the hay standing and pay the week it's stacked.

Every animal we sell is born on a prairie ranch, fed in our yard and cut in our shop on Main Street. Ask at the counter and we'll tell you which family raised your roast.
The prairie promise
Four things we hold to on every animal
Known ranches
We buy from about forty families, and we've stood in every one of their pastures.
Fed close to home
Our grain and hay come from fields within thirty miles of the yard.
Hung fourteen days
Every carcass dry ages two weeks in our cooler before we cut it.
Cut to order
Tell us how thick and how many to a pack. We write it on the ticket.

Our neighbors raise good cattle. All we ever did was pay them a fair price close to home and keep the beef here, where people could buy it.

"The quarter beef box fed our family of five all winter. Every pack was labeled, and it's the best ground beef we've bought."
